Don't know what happened but would certainly appreciate some help with what my gut feeling tells me is something pretty simple to remedy. sp1 both drives see any burned cd/dvd's as blank but all production dvd's (store purchased) run fine. I downloaded Windows Movie Maker, loaded my video, but it still didn't burn because the brand new empty DVD was seen as FULL. Drive ' E ' works fine. it could just be that your drive can't read the specific type of disk. Cd Showing Blank Windows 7 So I'm pleased to say.......Sorted.

Then it will spin and act like its about to read then it says its a CD drive with nothing inserted into it. Here's a guide that explains how to delete these filters from the registry. Wasn't able find anything of help on a google search. Tech Support Guy is completely free -- paid for by advertisers and donations. This will replace bad or corrupt drivers and files. So this must be a Vista bug.
I'm guessing it creates a "file structure" of sorts when the write process begins and once that is done, you cannot write to it again unless it is a multisession disk.
