I have read some of the comments above but am not sure what you are talking about with upper and lower filters. I reverted to the original mobo cd drivers, That fixed it.
Now my pc won't read CDs but seems to be fine installing programs from DVD rom. Verify that the CD-ROM drive is listed on the Windows HCL list.b. Seems to have stood up to some intense testing at China Lake. I don't know what the hell happened but I'm happy now that I have my DVD/CD drive back.
